Hagerstown - Michael Lee Karn, 74, of Hagerstown, MD passed away on Saturday, September 3, 2022, at Doey House, Hagerstown. Born January 2, 1948, in Hagerstown, MD, he was the son of the late Hubert L Karn and Helen (Kershner) Karn. Mike is survived by his wife of 44 years, Barbara A (Miller) Karn; three sisters, Helen “Venie” Myers, spouse Preston “Butch”, Teresa Angle, spouse John, and Judy Howell, spouse Joe; 2 grandchildren, a grandson, whom he helped raise, Michael James Noble, spouse Courtney, and granddaughter Krystle S King; one great grandchild, Ryleigh June Noble; son-in-law Willie Small, who was his assistant caregiver for the last four months; and faithful dog Hannah.
Mike was a 1966 graduate of South Hagerstown High School. He then joined the Navy in 1966 and served in Vietnam and Operation Desert Storm. Mike retired from the United States Navy Reserves after 29 years achieving the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer. He was employed at several places including Brandt Cabinet Works, Hagerstown Kitchens, Fairchild, Rohr, Honeywell, and EDCO of Frederick, MD. He was a member of Calvary Grace Brethren Church. He also served on the council and was the vice moderator for a period of time.
Mike was also preceded in death by grandparents Harry E Kershner and Maude (Butts) Kershner; grandparents Edgar Karn and Clara (Hochman) Karn; and daughter Tangena (Boward) Small.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, September 7, 2022, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Rest Haven Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at Rest Haven Funeral Home on Thursday, September 8, 2022, at 12:00 PM with Pastor Doug Courter officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please send memorial contributions in memory of Michael Karn to Doey House, 11370 Caring Pathway Lane, Hagerstown, Maryland 21742.
