Nalda Lucille Toms, 86, of Hagerstown, passed away Friday, May 25, 2012, surrounded by family at her home.
Born Dec. 8, 1925, in Pierce, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Harry E. and Lucy (Taylor) Griffith.
She was a member of Washington Square United Methodist Church in Hagerstown, and was on the Washington Square sandwich committee for many years.
Nalda retired from Mack Trucks in Hagerstown, and also had worked at Tri-State Electric for more than 20 years.
She was a former member of Merri Macks and local square dance groups.
She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Donald Toms; a daughter, Donna S. Drenner and husband, Denny, of Hagerstown; a son, Rick S. Toms and wife, Stephanie, of Mercersburg, Pa.; a sister, Sylvia Stemple of Oakland, Md.; grandchildren, Gina Drenner-White, Tanya Morris and husband, John, Christopher Drenner and wife, Elicia, Shaynna Everly and husband, David, and Hannah Toms; great-grandchildren, Shelby, Jordan, Jared, Casey, Noah, Lorelei, Kailah and Finn; a great-great-grandson, Thatcher; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by six sisters and six brothers.
A funeral service will be Tuesday, May 29, 2012, at 10 a.m. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave. Hagerstown, with Pastor Jerry L. Lowans officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
