Ned Wilbur Renner, 89, of Hagerstown, passed away on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at Doey's House in Hagerstown.
Born July 3, 1929 in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Joseph Howard and Lelia Belle (Buracker) Renner.
Ned joined the Army at age 16. He spent 20 years in the service. He was 1 of only 28 surviving men that served through 3 wars; WWII, the Korean War, as well as Vietnam. Ned earned various medals including the WWII Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal.
At age 36, he retired from the Army and for the next 20 years, worked as an investigator for the Dept. of Motor Vehicles.
He was a member of the Korean War Veterans Group.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 68 years, Gloria Lorraine (Longnecker) Renner, who died October 9, 2017. His brothers Howard and Henry Renner also preceded him.
Ned is survived by his son, Joseph Renner and his wife Kelly; a grandson, Brian Renner; two granddaughters, Ashlee Renner and Lindsey Renner; a great-grandson, Carter Smith; his brother and close friend, William Renner and wife Ebb; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted at 10:00am on Monday, December 3, 2018 at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown. He will be buried beside his wife in Rest Haven Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded by the Maryland State Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
