March 24, 1926 to August 07, 2016
Patricia passed away peacefully on Sunday August 7, 2016, with her family present at her bedside. Patricia was born in Hagerstown, MD on March 24, 1926. She was the daughter of the late Chauncey I. Kieffer and Louise Magaha Kieffer. Patricia was the wife of Robert G. Stull who she married on March 6, 1949. Patricia was a resident of Hagerstown for 74 years until the year 2000, when she and her husband decided that they wanted to live near the ocean. For the last 16 years they have been residents in Ocean Pines, Maryland. She graduated from Hagerstown High School class of 1944. In June of that year she entered the United States Cadet Nurse Corps graduating in 1947. She was employed by the Washington County Hospital as a registered nurse for 30 years. Pat worked in many departments within the hospital, eventually securing a coveted position as a surgical nurse in the operating room of the hospital. She worked in this capacity for seventeen years. During this time, she said that she was able to help make a small difference for those who were there under very difficult circumstances. Her time in the operating room led to many valued lifelong friendships with many of the nurses and support personnel who also worked there. She would reminisce of those days even as she struggled with her own final health issues.
In Washington D.C. a memorial was erected to commemorate the good works of the U.S. Cadet Nurse Corps. She was very proud of the fact that she is listed there as a charter member of that organization. Pat also became a member of the Ladies of the Ocean City Shrine Club when she moved to the Eastern Shore. She was proud to be a member of this organization because of the Shrine’s charitable good works. While living in Hagerstown, Pat was very active in her church, St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran. She was active on several committees, taught confirmation classes, taught in Sunday School, worked with the youth groups, and served on the church council. After moving to the Eastern Shore she joined St. Peter’s Lutheran Church of Ocean City. While attending St. Peter’s she was the coordinator of the usher guild and a lay reader. Pat could not resist helping in the healthcare field, and after moving to Ocean City, she volunteered her assistance in same day surgery at Atlantic General Hospital. At the age of 15 years, Patricia met the love of her life, Robert G. Stull. For 75 years they have displayed a depth of love for each other that was truly a gift from God. Pat is survived by her husband of 67 years and two children - her son Dr. John H. M. Stull II and his wife Bonnie of Hagerstown, MD and by her daughter Sally Stull Seibold and her husband Tom of Ocean City, MD. She is proud to have 4 granddaughters; Vanessa, Jessica, Lauren, and Lindsay and five great granddaughters Gabrielle, Lilly, Sophia, Fiona, Brynn. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her sisters Peggy Leaverton of Plainfield, MN and Jessie Newcomer of Chambersburg, PA. A memorial service will be held at St. Peter’s on August 19, 2016, at 11:00am. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Harry Biles will officiate. Graveside services will be held at Rest Haven Cemetery in Hagerstown, MD on August 22, 2016 at 2:00pm. Family will receive friends one hour prior to this service as well. The Rev.
