Paul Varden Myers, 92, of Hagerstown, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2012, at Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown.
Born Oct. 28, 1919, in Franklin County, Pa., he was the son of the late Jesse and Nancy (Pouge) Myers.
Mr. Myers was employed by Fairchild Aircraft, and retired in 1985 as a machinist for Mack Trucks, where he was a member of Teamsters Local 992.
He was a U.S. Army veteran and a life member of VFW Post 1936 in Hagerstown.
He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Hagerstown.
He is survived by his loving wife, Evelyn B. (McCusker) Myers; one son, Harold L. Myers and wife, Dorothy, of Hagerstown; one granddaughter, Nicole M. Kelley; two stepgrandchildren, Dennis and Jamie Nichols; one great-granddaughter, Morgan Kelley; four stepgreat-grandchildren, Spencer, Amber, Christopher and Alex Nichols; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, John Henry Myers; one sister, Mary Lydia Izer; and one nephew.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2012, at 1 p.m. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with the Rev. Clark D. Carr officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by the Maryland National Guard, AMVETS and Marine Corps Bulldog Detachment honor guards.
The family will receive friends Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
