Philip David Bowers, 84, of Hagerstown, Md., passed away, Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at Julia Manor Healthcare Center, Hagerstown.
Born July 6, 1937 in Hagerstown he was the son of the late, William H. and Edna Mae (Henneberger) Bowers. In addition to his parents he also was preceded in death by his first wife, Rachel Theo (Surratt) Bowers and a half brother, Frederick Bowers.
Mr. Bowers was a graduate of Hagerstown High School. After graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served his enlistment. Afterwards he joined the U.S. Air Force and retired with over 20 years of service in communications as a Master Sergeant. During his time in the military he was the recipient of 2 Bronze Stars during the Vietnam War. After his retirement from the Air Force he had worked for 37 years as a plant mechanic for Tamko Roofing Supplies, Frederick, Md.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and The Good Shepherd Ministries, He also was a member of the Morris Frock Post 42, American Legion and was on the Senior Bowling League at South Side Lanes, all of Hagerstown.
Mr. Bowers is survived by his wife, Judy Moore (Davis) Bowers; two children, Karla Gullette and husband, Thomas Lawson of Ashburn, Va. and Bruce Bowers and wife, Amy of Frederick, Md.
A Celebration of Life service will be conducted on Monday, April 11, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at The Good Shepherd Ministries,19763 Longmeadow Rd., Hagerstown with Pastor Kenneth Brown officiating.
Friends will be received at the church on Monday one hour prior to the service.
