Phyllis Ann Lacey Stone

June 9, 1930 — June 28, 2019

Phyllis Ann Lacey Stone, 89, of Montgomery Village, Maryland passed away on June 28, 2019.
Born on June 9, 1930 in Wichita, Kansas she was a woman of great faith. She was a member of Fairhaven United Methodist Church in Gaithersburg, MD for 40 years where she worshiped and enjoyed serving on several committees.
She grew up in Bethesda, Maryland where she attended BCC High School, and American University while working at National Institutes of Health.
Along with the love and devotion for her family; her second love was the beach. She spent every opportunity at her home in Ocean City, Maryland, where she and Bob made life-long friends, and hosted countless family members and friends for over 40 years. She would often say this was her "Happy Place". No doubt we all have Very Sweet Memories.
She was most proud of her golf game; as a member at Montgomery Village Golf Club she enjoyed playing, competing and winning for many years.
She also enjoyed cooking, gardening, knitting, and traveling. Her love for sports kept us all apprised on the latest news whether it was baseball, football or tennis. The Washington Redskins have lost their most loyal fan!
Phyllis is survived by her five children, Burt Elder and wife Cindy of Sharpsburg, MD; Rick Elder and wife Teri of Hagerstown, MD; Steven Elder of Austin, TX; Lisa Martin of Shippensburg, PA; Tim Stone and wife Marietta of Wilmington, NC; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and many adored nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Claire and Beulah Lacey her husband Robert. O. Stone, her beloved sisters, Patricia DeBinder and Jeanie Sommers and Robert L. Elder.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, August 2, 2019 at 1:00 pm with Reverend Kenneth Hawes at Fairhaven United Methodist Church located at 12801 Darnestown Rd, Gaithersburg, MD 20878. In lieu of flower, the family asks that donations be made to Fairhaven United Methodist Church.
