Phyllis R. Kline, 87, of Hagerstown, went home to be with her loving Lord and Savior, her mom, dad and siblings on Thursday, May 18, 2017.
Born February 11, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Carmen N. and Henrietta Derr Kephart.
Phyllis graduated from Hagerstown High in 1948. She later worked at C&P as a telephone operator; sold Tupperware; worked at Del-Mar Inn for 12 years; worked for the Washington County Board of Ed as a cafeteria assistant for 35 years. She also baked fresh cakes and cookies that she sold at Christmas time.
Well known as the North Potomac Middle School and the Northern Middle School "Witch", Phyllis was a member of Bells and Beaux square dancing group; a lifetime member of Otterbein United Methodist Church in Hagerstown, where she was involved with many church activities; and a member of the United Methodist Women.
She is survived by two daughters, Susan "Janie" Hughes and Sharon Kronawetter (Frank); step-son, Danny H. Kline (Mary Beth); grandchildren, Jeremy Springer, Travis Reed (Christie), Joey Kronawetter, Andy Kronawetter, Ellen McLeod (Tim), Daniel Kline, and Katy Hill (Daniel); great-grandchildren, Mary Grace, T. J., Michelle, Brett, Blake, Emma, Hayden, and Kai; many nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Lynda Byers (Bill); and her grand "fur" baby, Colie. Phyllis also left behind many close friends.
In addition to her parents, Phyllis is also preceded in death by brothers Donald, Kenny, and Jack Kephart; sisters, Jane Sorgatz and Mary Hoover; ex-husband, Harold B. Kline; one niece and 5 nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at Otterbein United Methodist Church, 108 E. Franklin St., Hagerstown, with the Rev. Elizabeth Jackson officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.
Friends and family will be received on Monday, May 22, 2017, from 6-8pm at Rest Haven Funeral Home, Inc., 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown.
