Richard Austin Smith

Richard Austin Smith, 69, of Hancock, Md. formerly of Hagerstown, passed away, Monday, October 26, 2020 at Winchester Medical Center in Virginia.
Born December 10, 1950 in Hagerstown he was the son of the late, Carl Smith and Helen (Fiddler) Gettel. In addition to his parents he also was preceded in death by his step father, Bruce Gettel, Sr.; one daughter, Julia Lynn Smith; a sister, Pam Perrott; and Mr. Smith's life companion, Louise Webber.
Mr. Smith had worked in maintenance for the Pangborn Corporation, Bickle Manufacturing and EMCorp Manufacturing.
He was a member of the South Mountain Rod and Gun Club and enjoyed the outdoors and working in his shop.
Mr. Smith is survived by one daughter, Stacey R. Nibarger and husband, James; four grandchildren, Kaleb Repp, Elijah Repp, Sadie O'Donnell and Harley Tucker Lehman; seven great grandchildren; one brother, Bruce Gettel, Jr.; one sister, Judy Warrenfeltz and husband Barry; first wife, Juanita Everts; brother in law, Dusty Perrott; friend, Sonya Bishop and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be conducted at a later date.
