Richard Maxwell Boswell, Jr. of Clear Spring, MD, 87 went to be with his Lord on August 5, 2024.Born January 1, 1937 in Richmond, VA, he was the son of the late Richard M. Boswell, Sr. and the late Cora (Pat) Pauline Jones Boswell. Richard graduated from Clear Spring High School in 1954. He moved to Richmond, VA and worked for the Richmond Fredericksburg and Potomac Railroad for 10 years as a Diesel locomotive electrician. Richard met and married his late wife Beulah Nuckols of 57 years who preceded him in death August 3, 2016. Richard served in the United States Naval Reserve Unit in Richmond, VA from 1954 to 1962 with an honorable discharge as Electrician Mate 3 class. In 1965, Richard became part owner and driver with father and brother of R.M. Boswell and Sons, Inc Trucking. In 1966, Richard moved his family from Mechanicsville, VA to Clear Spring, MD to be closer to his work. Richard was a road driver and dock worker for Ryder Truck Lines and P.I.E. Hagerstown, MD. He retired working from Expedited Services, Hagerstown. During his career, he drove across all 48 states with approximately 3 million accident-free miles. In addition to his wife, Beulah, he was preceded in death by his brother Robert E. Boswell (Dorothy), and grandson, Tyler Boswell. He is survived by siblings, Alice Waltz (Richard) of Hagerstown, MD and Willie Lee Boswell, Hagerstown, MD. Children Vickie Horst (Jeff) Clear Spring, MD, Richard M. Boswell III (Melissa), Kearneysville, WV, and Steven Boswell (Dena) Clear Spring, MD. Grandchildren: Stacy Horst, Hagerstown, MD, A.J. Horst, Gettysburg, PA, Richard M. Boswell IV, Hagerstown, MD, great grandson Trey Horst, numerous loved nieces and nephews, companion Kay Cazad, and beloved pet, Molly. He was a member of Paramount Baptist Church.Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, August 9, 2024 at 12:00 P.M. at Paramount Baptist Church, 13234 Marsh Pike, Hagerstown, Md. with Rev. Chuck Schroer officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery. Friends will be received at the church 2 hours prior to the service from 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M.
