Richard Matthew Templon

Richard Matthew Templon, Sr., 72, of Hagerstown, died on Thursday, September 11, 2014 at his home.
Born June 26, 1942 in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Matthew Elvin and Thelma Mae (Printz) Templon.
Richard was a 1960 graduate of North Hagerstown High School.
He served in the Maryland Army National Guard from 1960 to 1968 as senior artillery repairman and light maintenance repairman (vehicles), receiving special training at Fort Knox, KY.
Richard retired after 33 years from Mack Trucks as a transmission assembler. He had worked several jobs prior such as, Fairchild Hiller Republic Division; Jamison Cold Storage Door Co.; New York Central Iron Works, Inc.; Maryland Maid Kitchens; Central Chemical Corp.; and Blaine Window Hardware, Inc.
He was a member of Washington Square United Methodist Church in Hagerstown. Richard enjoyed golf, watching sports on television and gardening.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Eva Jean (Perrott) Templon, who he married September 15, 1962; three sons, Richard M. Templon, Jr. and wife Bonnie, Wayne A. Templon, Steven L. Templon; two sisters, Doris Hollis and husband John, Kathryn Kretzer and husband Brian, all of Hagerstown.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two infant sons, Bradley and Barry; and two brothers, Matthew E. Templon, Jr. and John A. Templon.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00am on Wednesday, September 17, 2014 in Rest Haven Cemetery, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown.
Friends and family will be received from 7-9pm on Tuesday at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, Hagerstown.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21742.
