Richard Pearl Dansberger

March 17, 1926 — July 5, 2012

Richard P. Dansberger, 86, of Hagerstown, died on Thursday, July 5, 2012 at Golden Living Center, after an extended illness.

Born March 17, 1926, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Emory and Ella Dansberger.

Richard lived in the Hagerstown area all of his life an attended Hagerstown High School before becoming a veteran of the United States Army.

He was an amateur photographer and had a large collection of books, records and western pictures.

Richard retired after 43 years of service for the Herald Mail News Paper Company.

He was a member of the Elks Club 378; Alsatia Club; Morris Frock American Legion Post No. 42; VFW of Chambersburg; Herald Mail 25 year club; and the University of Maryland Terrapin Club. He loved the Maryland Terrapins.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Lois Jeanette Dansberger; a daughter, Karen L. Wood and husband Ronald J.; a grandson, Jeremy J. Wood and wife Catie; and a great-grandson, Michael J. Wood.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00am on Monday, July 9, 2012 in Rest Haven Cemetery, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with the Rev. Mark C. Mooney officiating. Interment will follow with military honors being accorded by the Maryland State Honor Guard and Morris Frock American Legion Post No. 42.
