Richard “Richie” E. Heiberger passed away on Sunday, March 9, 2025, at Doey's House in Hagerstown, Maryland at the age of 84. Born on August 13, 1940, he was the son of the late Harry and Margaret "Peggy" Heiberger.
ln addition to his parents, Richard is preceded in death by his wife, Sharon A. (Strubel) Heiberger, brother in law; James R. Strubel, Sr., and his nephew; Nathan D. Lent.
Richard's educational journey began with his graduation from Hagerstown High School in 1958, followed by his time at Hagerstown Junior College, (HJC). He committed many years of his professional life to Motor Truck Service, from 1960-1981, where he honed his skills. He then went to Grimes Truck Center in Frederick, later transferring to the Hagerstown Grimes Truck Center where he retired, marking the end of a fulfilling career characterized by dedication and hard work.
In his later years, Richard found solace and challenge in chess, immersing himself in the strategic nuances of the game. Yet, he never forgot the passions of his youth; golfing and bowling were activities he relished.
He is survived by his brothers in laws, Ronald L. Strubel, Sr. and James R. Strubel, Jr. (Debbie), sisters in laws, Sandra J. Brown and Linda Lent, best friends; Sheryl and Dick Ebersole, nephew; Kurt Brown (Kim), and niece Kim Dudley (Aaron).
A private inurnment will be held at Rest Haven Cemetery, 1601 Pennsylvania Avenue, Hagerstown, Maryland, Friday, March 14, 2025.
