Robert Dean Marquiss, 89, of Greencastle, Pennsylvania, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Tuesday, January 6, 2015, at his home.
Born December 31,1925 in Bethany, Illinois, he was the son of the late Homer Oliver and Eva Viola (Dodd) Marquiss. In addition to his parents he also was preceded in death by two brothers, Murray and Raymon Marquiss and two sisters, Eloise Jeter and Wanda Craig.
He was a US Navy veteran of WW II and then worked and retired from the Fairchild Corporation as an engineer and later was a self-employed farmer.
Bob loved spending time with his extended family, engaging them in fun and encouraging them by sharing life's experiences. His family will treasure memories created at beaches, mountains and on the farm. He never met a stranger, and had a compassionate heart. He was the beloved patriarch of his family and will be deeply missed.
He attended Emmanuel Baptist Temple, Hagerstown for 25 plus years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Phyllis Lorraine (Miner) Marquiss; three children, Thomas Marquiss (Charlene) of Greencastle, Barbara Bauserman (Mark Weiner) of Richmond, Va. and Steven Marquiss (Beth) of Mechanicsburg, Pa.; one brother, Donald Marquiss (Betty) of Melbourne, Fla.; ten grandchildren, Jennifer Smith (Jamey), Matthew Marquiss, Suzanne Cavender (GB), Rebecca Shank, Matthew Bauserman, Joshua Bauserman, Seth Bauserman (Kelsey), Micah Bauserman, Jason Marquiss (Kathlyn) and Megan Meyers (Jonathan), and nine great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at Emmanuel Baptist Temple, 16221 National Pike, Hagerstown with Pastors Curtis King and Ed Hampton officiating.
Friends will be received at the church one hour prior to services.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Bob's name to the Emmanuel Baptist Temple or Emmanuel Christian school, 16221 National Pike, Hagerstown, MD 21740.
