Robert Franklin Boward, 72, of Hagerstown, passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2014 at Meritus Medical Center.

Born June 18, 1941 in Hagerstown, he was the son of Jean Elizabeth (Carbaugh) Boward of Hagerstown and the late James Franklin Boward.

He graduated in 1958 from North Hagerstown High School.

He worked at Hagerstown Equipment for many years and retired from Williamsport Tannery in the 90's.

Robert enjoyed yard sales and going to flea markets.

In addition to his mother, Robert is survived by a daughter, Tangena "Gena" Marie King and husband Richard of Hagerstown; grandson, Michael James Noble and his girlfriend Courtney Keating; a granddaughter, Krystle Siandra King; an aunt; cousins; a close friend, Chuck Lowery; and his faithful dog, Buck.

Robert was also preceded in death by his grandfathers, Harry Carbaugh and Loyd Boward and a grandmother, Elsie Boward

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00am on Thursday, January 30, 2014 at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with the Rev. Jay Fretz officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.

Friend will be received on Wednesday from 6-8pm at the funeral home.

The family would like to take this opportunity to thank Washington County Hospice for their services during Bobby's recent illness and death. Your dedication, professionalism, and kindness was much appreciated. In this time of sorrow and grief, your staff made things easier to endure. So once again we wish to extend a big thank you and sincere appreciation.
