Robert Lee Ryder, 79, of Martinsburg, passed away on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at Berkeley Medical Center.
Born November 26, 1936 in Minnehaha Springs, WV., he was the son of the late Randal John Ryder and Dolly Vorden (Mullins) Ryder Culp.
Robert moved to Fairfax, VA., at the age of 6 and attended Fairfax schools.
He worked in the floor covering business around the Arlington area and was the owner of B&M Floors of Chantilly, Va., for 30 years, retiring in 2005.
Robert was a nature lover and outdoors man. He enjoyed staying busy with yard work and gardening. He loved to travel and was a NASCAR fan.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Ann Hunt Ryder; his second wife, Martha Marie Mills Brown Scott Ryder; and three brothers, Herbert Rider, Lewis Rider, and Larry Rider. He was the last of his immediate family.
He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Mae (Longanecker) Grams Ryder, whom he married Oct. 10, 2005; nine children, Randy Lee Ryder, Sandra Rice, Edward Brown, Cathy Decker and husband Ren, Mike Brown, Chris Barhart and husband Charlie, Elsie Brown, Mark Evers Grams and wife Crystal, Laura Renee Grams; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; special friends Tom and Sandy Miller and their 4 children; numerous nieces and nephews; and his loving dog, Willow.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00pm on Monday, August 15, 2016 at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 PA Ave., Hagerstown, with the Rev. Robert Cook officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 7-9pm on Sunday at the funeral home.
