Robert Lee Sr. Benner

Robert Lee Benner Sr., 72, of Hagerstown, passed away Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Born Oct. 10, 1939, in Sharpsburg, he was the son of the late Arthur and Martha (Butts) Benner-Flook.
He worked as a barber at Blickenstaffâ??s in Funkstown.
Robert is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn J. (Yohe) Benner; seven children, Thomas Long and Martha Benner, both of Leitersburg, Joanie Sanders of Waynesboro, Rachel Shoop of Hagerstown, Robert Benner Jr. of Baltimore, and Steven Benner and Dianna Benner, both of Hagerstown; four stepchildren, Catherine Blair, Carolyn Rickard and Joseph Horst, all of Hagerstown, and Eddie Horst of Waynesboro; 11 grandchildren; and four stepgrandchildren. Robert is also survived by his brother, Charles L. Benner Sr.; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Catherine (Long) Benner; a sister, Alice M. Kline; and a brother, Jerry F. Benner.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2012, at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.
Friends will be received Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
