Rose Ann Black

Rose Ann Black, 66, of Hagerstown, passed away peacefully in the company of her mother at Ballenger Creek Center in Frederick, MD on Sunday, January 10, 2021.

Born on May 4, 1954 in Hagerstown, Rose was the daughter of the late Kenneth L. Black and Shirley A. (Statler) Black. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her sisters Mary L. Moats and Nancy J. Black.

Rose was a graduate of South Hagerstown High School Class of 1972. She graduated from Hagerstown Community College in 2004.

Rose was a member of Calvary Grace Brethren Church, and most recently attended St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

Rose was employed by J. Baker Shoes within the Zayre/Ames stores for 30 years until their closing. She then worked at Walmart for 12 years until her retirement in 2016.

Rose was a kind and giving person. She was best known for taking many pictures and being Aunt Rosie. She most enjoyed spending time with her family, especially attending sporting and school events to support her nieces and nephews, whom she loved so dearly.

Rose is survived her mother and sisters Barbara K. Kelley and her husband Terry; Bonnie S. Ridenour and her husband, John; and Deborah L. Smith; her fiancee, Bernard J. Wenner, Jr.; and many nieces, nephews, a great nephew, an uncle, and cousins.

A funeral service will be held at Rest Haven Funeral Home on Saturday, January 30. 2021 at 12:00 PM with Pastor Doug Courter officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Cemetery. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, face masks and social distancing are required.
