Russell Leroy "Roy" Chambers, 86, of Hagerstown, passed away on Friday, April 5, 2019 at the Martinsburg Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
Born November 2, 1932, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Arthur Franklin and Irene Dolan Chambers. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 46 years, Dorothy Lorraine Chambers, who died April 16, 1996.
Russell was a proud veteran of the United States Army.
He owned and operated Townley Stained Glass Studio, installing and repairing local church stained glass, before retiring after 31 years.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hagerstown; Williamsport Redmen Tribe 84, American Legion Post 202; and the Potomac Fish and Game Club. Russell enjoyed working on both his home and vacation home and spending time with his family and many friends.
Russell is survived by for children, Laurie Chambers, Russell L. Chambers Jr. and wife Marge, Stephen Chambers, and Lynne Williams and husband David; four grandchildren, Carly and Matthew Chambers, Megan and Matthew Williams; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Arthur Chambers, Jr. and wife Barbara Ann Schlosser Chambers; a sister, Ruth Chambers Schlosser and husband Roger "Buzz" Schlosser; and his step-mom, Eula (Barnhart) Chambers.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, April 13, 2019 in Rest Haven Cemetery, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with military honors being accorded by the Maryland State Honor Guard.
