Roy Allen Craig

After a courageous and determined battle to survive numerous medical conditions, Roy Allen Craig, 63, was fully released from all suffering on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at Meritus Medical Center, in Hagerstown, MD.

Born in Hagerstown, MD on November 1, 1959, Roy was the son of Ollen Otis and Lillian Stutz Marquiss Craig. Roy will be remembered fondly by many he touched during his time on earth.

He was a renowned musician and award-winning songwriter, a master guitarist. He played with the best local and many national entertainers in various venues, including the Maryland Theater, where he gave multiple concerts. Roy had a well-equipped recording studio where he mixed and mastered his own and others’ music. When he was able to attend, he played songs for services at the Church of God in Hagerstown and sister churches. Roy played at countless weddings and funerals. He wrote songs for original plays and specials the church presented.

Roy was a successful businessman, owning and operating Craig Sealing, Inc. for more than forty years, but he was never too busy to help people in need. He was a kind and gentle soul who never hesitated to tell others he loved them.

Some remember Roy for his classic Mercedes cars he loved to restore and drive. Others recall deep philosophical discussions and ponderings. His nieces and nephews remember hill hopping days and other fun adventures with Uncle Roy. Even his birds and cats loved him.

A devoted husband and father, Roy is survived by his wife, Susan Eardley Craig; daughter, Elizabeth Craig and her wife, Amellia (Mil); four brothers, Roger Craig (Kay), Roland Craig (Beverly), Richard Craig (Janet), and Ralph Craig (Vera); two sisters, Ellen Tyler (Greg) and Evelyn Reeves (Marc), and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Ollen Clifford Craig, and brothers, Raymond Craig and Russell Craig and sister, Elaine Craig.

The family will receive friends on Tues., April 18^th  from 6 to 8 pm at Rest Haven, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, MD. 

Celebration of Life will be held on Wed., April 19^th at 11 am at the Church of God located at 12811 Point Salem Rd., Hagerstown, MD, with Pastor Greg Tyler officiating. All are welcome.

Repast will follow in the church dining area.
