Ruth Kriner Evans, 89, of Hagerstown, passed away peacefully Friday, Feb. 10, 2012, at Wynwood House Assisted Living Home, Centre Hall, Pa.
Born Dec. 15, 1922, in Upton, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Harry C. and Mabel (Angle) Kriner of Greencastle, Pa.
She was raised in Upton and graduated from Lemasters High School in 1940. She took postgraduate courses at Greencastle High School.
She married her sweetheart, John Edwin Evans Sr., on July 19, 1941, in Accident, Md. Jack preceded her in death on Sept. 27, 2011. They were married for more than 70 years. They had three sons, John E. Evans Jr., married to Sherry, of State College, Pa., James L. Evans, married to Laura, of Sykesville, Md., and the Rev. Timothy C. Evans, married to Nancy, of State College, Pa. She left a legacy of nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, who affectionately knew her as â??Gramy.â?
She was a member of St. Ann's Roman Catholic Church. She was a former employee of Fairchild Republic Aircraft and retired as benefits coordinator of the Washington County Hospital System.
She was predeceased by a sister, Mary Catherine Kriner, and brother, Ray R. Kriner.
A funeral service will be conducted Saturday, Feb. 18, 2012, at 1 p.m. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with the Rev. James F. Hay officiating.
Family and friends will be received one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Ruth will be laid to rest at Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.
