Samuel Lee "Sammy" Carpenter, 58, of Smithsburg, passed away on Monday, May 2, 2016 at his home, while surrounded by his loving family.
Born May 27, 1957 in Hagerstown, he was the son of Hazel Irene (Shupp) Carpenter, of Hagerstown and the late Samuel Benjamin Carpenter.
Sammy attended Williamsport High School.
He worked as a carpenter.
Sammy was a member of Calvary Temple Church. He enjoyed fishing and spending time being a 'pap'.
In addition to his mother, he is also survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Katherine Marie (Niswander) Carpenter; four children, Casie Curry, Craig Morrell, Carlita Turner, and Kira Miller; a brother, Timmy W. Carpenter; four sisters, Rita D. Robinson, Marie C. Leonard, Norma J. Kirsch, and Linda K. Yost; numerous grandchildren; and several extended family members.
In addition to his father, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Rebecca M. Carpenter.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00pm on Friday, May 6, 2016 at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with Pastor Bobby Robinson officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
