Sharon Lee Hammond

Sharon Lee Hammond, 80, Passed away on August 16, 2024, in Hagerstown, Maryland. Born on May 11, 1944, in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, to the late John C. Smith Sr. and Virginia M. (Keefer) Smith.

 In addition to her parent, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donovan G Hammond Sr., and one brother; John (Buddy) C. Smith Jr.

From the very beginning, Sharon knew that the most precious gift in life was time spent with her family. Her heart flourished in the company of her children. She cherished every moment made vibrant with laughter and shared experiences, whether it was bustling through shops with her daughters, or taking long leisurely walks with her son, letting the world fade away in the rhythm of their footsteps. She found joy in simple pleasures. She delighted in the tranquility of reading her favorite books and completing puzzles. She would often find herself seated on her porch, engaging in meaningful conversations with her neighbors. These chats, brimming with shared stories and laughter, became the lifeblood of her community connections. Her faith was also a cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and nurturing her kindness. She embraced the values of her Christian upbringing, embodying compassion and empathy in every interaction with others.

She is survived by her three children; Stacy L. Alexander (Pete), Kelly A. Stine (Mike), and Donovan G. Hammond Jr. (Audrey), one grandson; Donovan D Hammond, three step- grandchildren; Lindsay N. Crunkleton (Mike), Hannah E. Chaney (Mark), and Tyler M. Stine, two step- great grandchildren; Liam and Quinn Crunkleton, and one sister; Charlene K. Gamewell (Tomme).

A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, August 23, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Avenue, Hagerstown, MD 21742 with interment to follow at Rest Haven Cemetery. Receiving of friends, Thursday, August 22, 2024, from 5-7 pm.
