Shirley Ann (Statler) Black, 82, of Hagerstown, passed away at her home Friday, February 26, 2021, after a long illness.

Born October 31, 1938 in Clear Spring, MD, she was the daughter of the late Grace A. (Wolford) Hull and stepfather, Clarence R. Hull and the late Glen G. Statler. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Kenneth L. Black, whom she married November 25, 1953; her daughters, Rose Ann Black, Mary L. Moats, and Nancy J. Black; an infant granddaughter Sarah Lynn; her brothers, Richard J. and Gary E. Hull; sister, Betty L. Gipe.

Shirley attended Hagerstown High School. She was a member of Calvary Grace Brethren Church.

Shirley was a stay-at-home mom and homemaker until the death of her husband when she went to work at Richardson's Restaurant and then on to Western Maryland Hospital Center until her retirement.

Shirley most loved spending time with her family, especially her beloved daughters and grandchildren. Her hobby was collecting stuffed holiday bears.

Shirley is survived by her daughters, Barbara K. Kelley and her husband Terry; Bonnie S. Ridenour and her husband John; and Deborah L. Smith; a brother, Ronald L. Hull and his wife, Shirley; seven grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at Rest Haven Funeral Home on Friday, March 5, 2021, at 2 p.m. with Pastor Doug Courter officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Cemetery.
