The world lost a great wife, mom and nurse; but heaven gained the best person to keep it organized and on task. Shirley Kay Wetzel of Hagerstown, MD passed away from a long health battle.
As a retired US Navy and lifelong surgical nurse, Shirley spent her days either tending to her immaculate gardens or grooming her numerous dogs; usually both.
Shirley was a special person who balanced her toughness with her love and care for people. Shirley always looked for opportunities to quietly help others in their times of need.
She is survived by Raymond "Skip" Wetzel, her loving husband and friend of 55 years; her two grown sons (Chris and Blake) and four grandchildren (Davis, Bryce, Cole and Addison).
Viewing will be held at Rest Haven Funeral Home in Hagerstown on Thursday, August 29th at 6 PM.
Mass will be celebrated in Shirleys honor at St. Marys Catholic Church in Hagerstown on Saturday, August 31st at 10 AM with reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donation are being accepted to the Maryland SPCA at www.mdspca.org/give.
