Simon Edward Snyder, 88, of Hagerstown, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2011, at Reeders Memorial Home, after an extended illness.
Born Oct. 9, 1922, in Roanoke, Va., he was the son of the late Simon C. and Cora (Summers) Snyder.
Simon was employed at Fairchild for 20 years, and owned the Percussion Studio and taught percussion instruments for 41 years. He retired in June 1993.
He was a member of the YMCA Youth Band and a percussionist in the Municipal Band for 46 years.
He was a member of First Baptist Church, Hagerstown.
Simon is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Margaret Jean (Bush) Snyder; a sister, Anna Penn of Hagerstown; sister-in-law, Barbara A. Yost, and brother-in-law, William T. Yost of Newport News, Va.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, Oct. 8, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with the Rev. Thom Smith officiating.
Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m
