Sylvia Galman Bonebrake, 90, of State Line, Pennsylvania, passed away Wednesday, October 10, 2018, at her home.
Born March 8, 1928, in London, England, she was the daughter of the late, Harry and Rhoda (Strauss) Galman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Charles William Bonebrake, who she met in London while he was serving in the US Navy during World War II.
During the war years in London, Sylvia worked for J. Arthur Rank Studios.
She also worked in business as a secretary and retired in 1989 from Chambersburg Hospital. She loved entertaining at home and catered many parties, taught continuing education classes at HCC and worked as a restaurant hostess. She had a small cookie bouquet business "Sylvia's Delicious Deliveries."
Her love was for her children, family, and dearest friends. And especially for "The Brits", her British girlfriends. She enjoyed ballroom dancing, reading, sharing and giving. She traveled the world many times to her home in England, Israel and the Middle East, China and Mexico.
She was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served as a teacher and Relief Society President in the Waynesboro and Hagerstown Wards.
Sylvia is survived by three children, Christopher W. Bonebrake, Beverly G. Bonebrake, Calvin L. Bonebrake and his spouse Susan D. Bonebrake, six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be conducted on Sunday, October 14, 2018, at 10:00 A.M. at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown Maryland. Friends will be received at the funeral home beginning at 9:00 A.M.
