Thomas Edward "Sunshine" Long, 60, of Hagerstown, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 17, 2019, while surrounded by his loving family.
Born October 12, 1958 in Cocoa Beach, Florida, he was the son of Rita (Sanford) Reynard, of Hagerstown, and late William John Thomer Long, Jr., He was also preceded by his step-father, Charles Reynard, whom he dearly loved.
Thomas was a 1978 graduate of South Hagerstown High School.
He currently worked as a roofer, formerly for Mike Eichelberger in Hagerstown.
Thomas will be remembered as a very loving and giving man. He never met a stranger. His grandchildren were his life.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Loretta L. (Golden) Montgomery Long; twin daughters, Joanna Reed of Hagerstown, Britney Reed of Hershey, PA; a son, Doug Reed and wife Nikki of California; two step children, Paula Montgomery, Kevin Montgomery and wife Juanell all of Hagerstown; two brothers, William Long of WV, Brian Long of FL., two sisters, Beatrice Johnston of Williamsport, Teresa Violette of Italy; nine grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; 10 step great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews, including Michael French, who was loved dearly by Thomas; and a host of friends.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00pm on Monday, May 20, 2019 at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown with the Rev. Leon Yoder officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Sunday at the funeral home and again following the burial on Monday.
