Thomas Joseph Jefts, Jr.

Thomas Joseph Jefts, Jr., 80, of Keyser, passed away on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at the Western Maryland Health System, in Cumberland.

Born May 2, 1936 in Milford, Massachusettes, he was the son of the late Thomas Joseph and Eva Marie (Proulx) Jefts.

Thomas was a member of The Good Shepherd Ministries and after moving to Keyser he attended Mt. Zion Church; He was also a member of Sharpsburg Lions Club and Potomac Valley Lions Clubs; American Legion Post 211; and Hagerstown B.P.O.E.

He was a SFC of the United States Army

Thomas retired after 18 years as an engineering assistant with Bell Atlantic Telephone Company which later became Verizon. He was also a realtor for Long & Foster Real Estate in Cumberland.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two sons, Daniel C. and Anthony P. Jefts; a daughter, Sandra Ann Jefts; and a sister, Jacquelyn Menard.

Thomas is survived by his loving wife, Anna Marie Jefts; two daughters, Deborah Foroutan of Manchester, N.H., Brenda Converse and husband Mark of Pembroke, N.H.; a son, Michael Jefts of Cumberland and Robert Aiken; 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; a special step-grandson Jody.


A funeral service will be held at The Good Shepherd Ministries on Tuesday April 4, 2017 at 11:00 am with Pastor Steven McCullough officiating.

Inurnment will be at Rest Haven Cemetery at a later date.
