Thurman Brondell Shank, Jr., 76, of Hagerstown, passed away at Commonwealth Senior Living on Wednesday, July 21, 2021.
Born on January 19, 1945 in Hagerstown, Thurman was the son of Bonita (Young) Shank and the late Thurman Brondell Shank, Sr. He graduated from Boonsboro High School in 1963. He worked for Mack Truck as a pipe fitter for 38 years before retiring.
Thurman was known for having a great sense of humor. He participated in the American Legion. He loved playing in his bowling league and his horseshoes league. He also enjoyed rebuilding, riding, and eventually reselling Harley Davidson motocycles and loved watching the Redskins play.
Thurman is survived by his daughters, Tricia Dodson and her husband, David, of Boonsboro; and Bonita Garnett and her fiance, Christopher Owens, of Hagerstown. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Sarah Harbaugh, Erin Collinson, Rachel Dodson, and Kylee Garnett; as well as seven great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at Rest Haven Cemetery on Friday, July 23, 2021 at 11:00 AM with Pastor James Gross officiating. All friends and family are welcome to attend.
