Violet Agatha Penner, 99, of Hagerstown, passed away, Monday, December 10, 2018 at the Williamsport Retirement Village.
Born July 5, 1919 in Hagerstown she was the granddaughter of the late, Lloyd Kieffer Baker and Mary Jenny (Smith) Baker. in addition to her grandparents she also was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, William Allen Penner, whom she married September 24, 1949 and a sister, Nellie L. Segner. Mrs. Penner was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Mrs. Penner was a homemaker. She attended Williamsport High School and studied Interior Design in Baltimore, Md.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Hagerstown; a member and past president of the Antietam Garden Club, Hagerstown; and a member and past president of the Alpha Epsilon Society.
Mrs. Penner is survived by a godson, John A. Shaffer II; brother in law and sister in law, Nevin C. and Carol L. Penner of Hagerstown and sister in law, Jane Brewbaker.
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, December 17, 2018 at 1:00 P.M. at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown with Rev. Linda M. Alessandri officiating.
Interment will be private in Rest Haven Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
