Virginia "Pat" Frances (Roach) Hochstein, 86, of Hagerstown, passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at Brookdale Assisted Living.
Born December 28, 1930, in Bardwell, Texas, she was the daughter of the late Wilson Ruben and May Pearl (Anthony) Roach.
Pat was a 1949 graduate of Hagerstown High School. Received her A.A. Degree from Hagerstown Junior College in 1951. She then went on to John's Hopkins Nursing School where she graduated with a B.S. in nursing and began her career as a registered nurse; a passion she continued for 45 years.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Rockville, MD. Pat had a passion for helping those in need. She and her husband volunteered their time with the Bethesda Help organization. She also enjoyed painting, gardening, travel, and spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Pat is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Herbert Donald "Don" Hochstein; three children, Lisa Lynn Walker and husband Roger, Craig D. Hochstein and wife Kimi, Nancy P. Bittner and husband Neil; seven grandchildren, Zachary Lynn and wife Elizabeth, Gregory Lynn, Brent Hochstein, Audrey Hochstein, Matthew Bittner, Elizabeth Bittner, and Madeline Bittner; a great-grandson, Parker Bittner; a niece, Kathie Carpenter Held; and nephew, Phillip Carpenter.
In addition to her parents, Pat was also preceded in death by her sister, June Carpenter and husband James.
A graveside service will be held at 2:30pm on Friday, March 10, 2017 in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown. The family will receive friends following the burial at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 PA Ave., Hagerstown.
