Vivian Louise Neikirk

February 20, 1919 — October 7, 2016

Vivian Louise (Brown) Neikirk, 97, of Willliamsport, formerly of 966 Club Rd., Hagerstown, passed away on Friday, October 7th, 2016, at Homewood at Williamsport, where she currently resided.

Born February 20, 1919, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Julian Oliver and Ethel Rose (Trovinger) Brown.

She was a 1937 graduate of Hagerstown High School and Columbia Business College.

She had been a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church for 78 years serving as superintendent of Cradle Roll Dept. and as youth leader. She transferred her membership to the Williamsport United Methodist Church after moving to Homewood of Williamsport. She was a past member of Zonta Club of Hagerstown and was active in Girl Scouts of America as a leader while her daughter was active in Brownies and Girl Scouts.

Vivian was co-owner, vice president, and secretary of William M, Neikirk, Inc. of Hagerstown, retiring in 1981.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband and best friend, William "Buzz" Neikirk, who died in December of 2015; and her brother, Earle W. Brown, retired Lt. Col of the US Air Force, of Ocean Pines, MD.

Vivian is survived by a daughter, Julie Eriksson of Atlanta, GA.; a son, James E. Neikirk and wife Joy of Williamsport; three grandchildren, Gregory Eriksson and wife Krissy of Lilburn GA, Justin A. Neikirk and wife Robin of Hagerstown and Jessica Rizzo Sloggatt and husband Chris Sloggatt of Charleston, SC.; and five great-granddaughters.

She leaves behind an abundance of love for her family and friends. She will be treasured and fondly remembered as "MeeMee" by her grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 PA Ave., Hagerstown. Inurnment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.

Friends will be received following the inurnment in the funeral home.

The family requests the omission of flowers. Memorial donations may be made in Vivian's name to Homewood Benevolent Fund, Homewood at Williamsport,16505 Virginia Ave., Williamsport, MD 21795.
