Wanda Luz Dittmann

It is with sad hearts that we announce the passing of Wanda Luz Dittman, 83. Mother, grandmother, and friend. Wanda was the youngest sibling to Ramon and Luz Davila in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Wanda’s parents immigrated to New York city when Wanda was 2 years old. Her husband Louis William Dittmann and love of her life passed away in 2016.

Wanda grew up in New York City, graduating from the New York High School for the Performing Arts; where she fell in love with acting and preforming; which became lifelong passion of hers.

Wanda is survived by her children; Melissa Maria Davy of Cocoa Beach, Florida; Will Dittman of Hagerstown, MD and Alycia TaFoya of Mesa, AZ. Also two stepdaughters, Debbie Henry, and Diane Johnson, of GA. Wanda is also survived by her grandchildren, Adrian and Anthony TaFoya, of AZ; step grandchildren; Jimmy, Mathew, Michael, Joseph, Charity, and Nam, and Paul Koppel. One brother-in-law; Tom Dittman, NC. All of which will never forget the love and kindness she brought to their lives.

During her high school year’s, she had the opportunity of performing Summer Stock at the Braddock Heights summer theater. While there she visited Hagerstown, MD, when she proclaimed that she would someday return.

After high school Wanda got a job in the New York garment district modeling wedding gowns among other couture fashion; but she always kept an eye on Broadway, eventually getting roles. Later in life, Wanda got a number of movie roles. Wanda acted on Broadway, movie and TV roles, did commercials; and was even the WTTG Budweiser weather girl. Wanda was interictally enmeshed in Potomac Playmakers.

She wore many different hats during her time with Playmakers from taking tickets, ushering, acting, and directing exciting and masterful productions.

However, there was nothing more important to Wanda than family and friends. Visits from the grandchildren made her eyes lit up, she would teach them sounds and play with them for hours.

Wanda’s network of friends spreads across the country from Maryland, California, Arizonia, to Florida, and places in-between. Wanda was a member of the Thirsty Thursday Gals and the YaYa Girls, whose friendships she valued. She is survived by two her two best friends, Chris Hoover Coss and Tom Gossard. She will definitely be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her passing leaves a hole in everyone’s hearts who knew and loved her.

There will be a celebration of life in the spring.

Donations may be made to Potomac Playmakers 17303 W. Washington Street, Hagerstown, MD 21740.
