William Richard Ardinger, Sr.

We are sad to announce the passing of William Richard Ardinger, Sr. He died at age 76 on February 26, 2023. Richard passed away after a short battle with cancer. The memorial will be a private ceremony with only close family members.

Richard was born on January 5, 1947, to Joseph Ardinger and Frances Ardinger (Smith) in Williamsport, MD. Richard lived in Hagerstown, MD for most of his life and retired from the Washington County Board of Education. In Hagerstown, he met his late wife, Diana. They were married 44 years. They are survived by their 4 sons, Rick, Mike, Josh, and Matt, and 13 grandchildren, Dylan, Summer, Logan, Cherish, Kaia, Joy, Josh Jr., Alanah, Brayden, Gabby, Savannah, Kingstyn, and Harlan.

Later in life, Richard moved to Pennsylvania where he married his current wife of 11 years, Ellouise. He is survived by Ellie and her children Joe Jr., Thomas, and Victor Stotelmyer and Laura Brown. Richard and Ellie enjoyed watching “Last Man Standing”. They had a close relationship with Ellie’s mother, Lauretta Watt, and loved spending time with her.

Richard is preceded in death by his siblings, Shirley Bartles, Joseph Ardinger, and Terry Shifflet and grandson, Austin Ardinger. He is survived by his siblings Roy, David and Donna Ardinger, Mark, Ernest, and Edward Shifflet, Phyllis Ishler, Rose Henneberger, and Mary Kempf.
