William Francis Nutter, 95, of Williamsport, passed away on Sunday, April 4, 2010, at NMS Healthcare of Hagerstown.
Born March 10, 1915, in Beryl, W.Va., he was the son of the late Joseph C. and Orpha Mae (Knodle) Nutter.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
William was a member of the Evangel Baptist Church in Hagerstown; Williamsport American Legion Post 202; Williamsport Red Men Lodge 84; Western Enterprise Fire Co., Washington Square, Hagerstown; and a member of the Western Maryland Old Timers Club.
He retired as a brakeman in 1975 from Western Maryland Railroad, after 35 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Madeline (Butts) Nutter.
William is survived by three daughters, Wilma Jean Beauchamp of Big Spring, Pa.; Beverly Ann Anderson of Chambersburg, Pa., and Linda Lorraine Richesson of Hagerstown; two sons, William Ronald Nutter of Hagerstown and Timothy Charles Nutter of Boonsboro; 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Grover Nutter; a sister, Maxine Huss; and a great-granddaughter, Lindsay Erin Leasure.
Services are private and will be held at the convenience of the family.
