William James Howsare

William James Howsare, 82, of Hagerstown, passed away, Tuesday, October 14, 2014, at Fahrney-Keedy Home and Village, Boonsboro, Md.

Born February 17, 1932 in Cumberland, Md. he was the son of the late, Gail Rose Howsare. In addition to his mother he also was preceded in death by his loving wife of 48 years, Margie A. (Stoneberger) Howsare.

Mr. Howsare retired from Griffith Consumers, Cheverly, Md., where he worked as a commercial oil burner mechanic.

He was a US Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of the Morris Frock American Legion Post 42, Hagerstown.

He enjoyed handheld poker games and slot machines at Charles Town Races and Slots.

He is survived by two daughters, Lisa R. Dean and significant other, Joe Pyne, of Hagerstown and Cheryl L. Higgins and husband Ray Higgins of Martinsburg, W.Va.; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown.

Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery where military honors will be accorded by the Maryland National Guard Honor Guard.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday from 6-8 P.M.
