William Paxson Sours, 74, of Hagerstown, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2011, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Born Sept. 30, 1937, in Washington D.C., he was the son of the late Marvin T. and Mildred Frances (McMickel) Sours.
William retired after 23 years from the Washington County Board of Education.
He is survived by his loving wife, Linda M. (Harrell) Sours; five children, William P. Sours Jr. of Hagerstown, Sherry A. Fleegle and husband, George, of Hancock, Roxanne M. Sours of Hagerstown, Steven Montgomery of Hancock, and Tina Shafer and husband, Lee, of Hagerstown; a sister, Nancy Smoke of Virginia; one brother, Melvin W. Sours of Cearfoss; four grandchildren, William Sours III, Todd Weaver, Chrissy Montgomery and Melissa Montgomery; an unborn grandson, baby Fleegle; a stepgranddaughter, Courtney Fleegle; great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Lula Sours; a daughter, Christy Lynn Sours; two sisters, Betty Wallech and Shirley Moore; and a brother, Melvin T. Sours.
A graveside service will be Friday, Oct. 7, 2011, at 1 p.m. in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown. Inurnment will follow.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown.
