Winifred (Winnie) H. Baldoff passed away on March 31, 2017, at her Hagerstown, MD home at age 90. Born in Waynesboro, PA, on May 20, 1926, she is survived by her sister, Dorothy Y. Stansbury of New Cumberland, PA, her brother-in-law, Leighton Stansbury, nieces, nephews, and other family members. She was predeceased by her brother, Kenneth E. Yeakle, and her parents, Elmer and Matilda Yeakle of Waynesboro, PA. She was the widow of Charles A. Baldoff, to whom she was married for 39 years. Winnies professional career spanned over 50 years. Her first job after graduating from Washington Township High School in 1944 was at Landis Tool Co. in Waynesboro, PA. She then joined Fairchild Aircraft Co., where she worked in the drafting and design of aircraft. Winnie loved spending time outside with birds and animals. She and her husband Charles shared a passion for raising and showing horses, which they did together for many years. Winnie was an excellent seamstress. She won first prize for her entry at the Pennsylvania State Farm Show while still attending high school. She was also an accomplished photographer, having thousands of family and nature pictures in her archives. Winnie was a lifelong member of Hagerstown Church of the Brethren, where she and Charles were married in 1946. Beginning at age 9, her life was detailed in the daily diaries she faithfully wrote and illustrated with her artistic sketches. Her diaries reflect her love of family, friends, nature, and all creatures great and small. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 14, at 11:00 AM at Hagerstown Church of the Brethren, located at 5 South Mulberry Street, Hagerstown, MD 21740. A viewing will precede these services, and will begin at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Hagerstown Church of the Brethren or Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Avenue, Hagerstown, MD 21742.
